African Caravan – Movement of the People: Strengthening Africa from Within

Youth-led Climate Action Journey Moves from Kenya to Tanzania Ahead of G20 Social Summit

Nairobi, Kenya – The African Caravan – Movement of the People is embarking on its next major journey from Kenya to Tanzania, carrying forward a message of unity, resilience, and African-led climate action.

The Caravan — a Pan-African initiative connecting youth, activists, and cultural leaders across the continent — symbolizes the movement of people rising together for change. Originating in Kenya, the Caravan continues to link communities through art, cycling, cultural exchanges, and dialogue, amplifying African voices in the global movement for climate justice, peace, and social inclusion.

Focusing on Africa’s Own Strength

While global attention turns toward COP30, the African Caravan team has made a deliberate choice to focus on strengthening Africa from within.
“As African youth, we believe it is vital to understand the issues within our own borders first,” said the Caravan team. “This journey is about unity — learning from one another and building solutions rooted in our shared culture and realities.”

The upcoming phase from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam will include:

  • Community Dialogues & Youth Engagements
  • Cultural Exchanges & Peace Rides linking local artists and organizations.
  • Storytelling & Documentation highlighting African perspectives on climate and social justice.

This phase will also feed into the Caravan’s 2026 Work Plan, which focuses on developing African solutions for African challenges.

Presenting at the G20 Social Summit

The findings and insights from this journey will be showcased at the G20 Social Summit, taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, later this year.
The African Caravan has been granted permission to host a side event, where the team will present stories, experiences, and community perspectives gathered throughout their travels.

“This is not just a journey — it’s a movement,” the organizers shared. “We are walking, cycling, and connecting communities to ensure that Africa’s people and stories are not left behind in the global climate conversation.”

Call for Support

To make the Kenya–Tanzania phase possible, the Caravan is seeking immediate support of $600 – $1200 to cover travel, meals, accommodation, and communication costs.
Supporters, partners, and well-wishers are invited to contribute and help ensure that this important Pan-African journey continues.
